The small panoramic hall where big stories happen
The Silhouette Hall is like a small stage at the top of the city –
19th floor of the Marinela Hotel, 187 sq m, natural light during the day and sparkling city lights at night.
The smaller panoramic hall in the hotel, but with character: mirrored columns, large windows, decorative lights and a comfortable dance floor for a wedding party that won’t stop.
This is where this wedding took place - noisy, colorful, and very emotional.
And I was there as a wedding photographer at the Silhouette Hallto tell their story frame by frame.
The entrance – the beginning of the story in the Silhouette Hall

When the doors to Silhouette opened, the guests entered the hall, and it was already getting dark outside and Sofia was slowly lighting up below us.
The city lights remained as a backdrop behind the windows, and inside – white decoration, green accents and lots of smiles.
In the very first minutes:
-
we take a few quick group photos of the groom's company,
-
the bride in a sparkling dress, holding the skirt with one hand,
-
everyone around her – friends, best men, relatives – hugging, laughing, giving a thumbs up.
These are one of those shots where you can still feel the anticipation – the first dance, the cake, the program... and everyone is ready for a party.
The first dance – heavy smoke, sparks and lots of tenderness

For the first dance, the hall darkened slightly, the dance floor was covered in heavy smoke, and the light fell on the newlyweds.
They embraced in the middle of the "Silhouette", behind them - mirror columns and fountains of sparks.
As a wedding photographer, I have exactly a few seconds to:
-
I arrange the frame so that both the hall and the emotion are visible,
-
to capture the moment when the bride smiles and hugs the groom,
-
not to miss a single spark, a single glance.
This is the moment when everyone around you disappears –
it's just the two of you, the music, and the lights of Sofia somewhere below.
Dancing with Mom – Those Tears No One Acknowledges
After the first dance comes the dance with the parents – one of the most human moments of the entire wedding day.
In this case, the groom and his mother, both in navy blue.
She smiles, but there's that slight moisture in her eyes that no parent can hide.
He holds her tightly, and everyone in the hall looks on with applause.
For me, these shots are priceless –
years later, newlyweds usually tell me:
"These are the photos with the parents that are our most precious."
Special guest: Ruslan Myinov – voice, jokes and lots of fun

Honestly, few weddings can boast such a guest performeras was here – Ruslan Mainov.
At one point, the spotlight turns to the stage, the music changes rhythm, and he comes out:
-
energetic, smiling,
-
with a microphone in hand and a great sense of humor.
Ruslan didn't just sing – he put on a show.

The songs range from favorite Bulgarian hits to more romantic themes for the newlyweds.
In between, there are jokes, funny stories, and jokes with the guests from the first tables.
As a wedding photographer in such moments:
-
I constantly monitor people's reactions – laughter, applause, singing along;
-
I catch shots of the bride and groom singing along with him;
-
I take group photos with Ruslan because it's a memory that will be told for a long time:
"You know, Ruslan Mynov sang at our wedding."
He managed to do exactly what every groom wants –
to get everyone out of their chairs and turn the hall into a big stage for excitement.
Folklore, people and a full dance floor

After Ruslan's performance, the program continued with folk dancers in traditional costumes.
Their red costumes, embroidery, and energy filled the Silhouette Hall with color.
Two dancers, wide smiles, hands raised high –
and the dance floor instantly turned into a multi-colored mosaic of lights and movement.
Then, in a completely Bulgarian scenario, everyone joined in a big dance:
-
the bride in the center, with her dress lifted to make it easier;
-
friends, relatives, guests of all ages;
-
the circle expands, contracts, breaks and comes together again.
From above, with a wider shot, the entire hall is seen in motion –
the mirrored walls, the lights, the people holding hands.
These are the shots that best show the character of a wedding in the Silhouette Hall.
Guests – the story is not just about the newlyweds
I often say that a wedding photographer doesn't just photograph the bride and groom -
I also photograph all those people who make the day special.
In this wedding there was:
-
an older couplewho were dancing slowly, embracing at the end of the dance floor – gentle, calm, with the kind of love that doesn't need noise;
-
groups of friends posing at the table with wine glasses and lots of laughter;
-
improvised small dance floors in the corners, while the main dance takes place in the center.
When you look back at the album later, it is these faces and moments that bring back the feeling that the entire hall was "your world" for one night.

Silhouette Hall – what is important from the wedding photographer's point of view
From a technical point of view, the Silhouette Hall is a very interesting location for a wedding photographer in Sofia:
-
Natural light during the day.
Large windows provide soft, pleasant light for portraits and family shots right at the beginning of the celebration. -
Mirror columns and decorative fixtures
They add shine, but also require attention - I position you so that you look good, without "accidental" reflections of flashes and cameras. -
Size about 187 sq.m.
The hall is ideal for more intimate weddings and banquets, where everyone is close to each other, and not lost in a huge space. This is also felt in the photos - there is always density, atmosphere, warmth. -
High floor, city view
19th floor is not just a number – it means that in the evening the windows become natural decoration. I often include the lights of Sofia behind you in the shots – especially in romantic moments or evening portraits.
When planning a wedding shoot at the Silhouette Hall, I always consider:
-
the time of the first dance (to strike a balance between the light outside and the atmosphere inside);
-
the arrangement of tables so that there is a wide area for a dance floor and photos;
-
the place of DJ, performers and effects – heavy smoke, sparks, lighting.
The better the preparation, the easier it is for you to just have fun, while I move between the guests and tell your story in frames.
Behind the scenes: how we worked that day
From my side, as a wedding photographer:
-
I started with shots of the hall before the guests – details of the decoration, the wedding table, candles, flowers, gifts for the guests.
-
During the program, I constantly changed angles – close-up emotions, general plans, a panorama of the entire hall.
-
We specified in advance with Ruslan Mainov and the DJ:
-
when special songs come in,
-
Where will Ruslan stand?
-
How to position effects to look their best in photos.
-
-
At peak moments – people, folk dances, "let's organize everyone for a group photo" – I literally ran all over the dance floorso as not to miss anything.
The result?
An album that contains both the big picture of the wedding and the small moments – a smile at the end of the table, a tear in Mom's eye, Ruslan's joke, a shared toast between friends.
