There are cars that are not just transportation, but part of automotive history.
This VW Golf 2 GTI G60 – square, tight, with a digital dashboard and a G60 compressor under the hood. A true youngtimer, which is sought after and valued abroad, but in our country it is still often undervalued and poorly known.

"The classic VW Golf 2 GTI G60, shot at a slight angle from the front, reveals the distinctive grille with GTI G60 emblem, the twin round headlights and the yellow fog lights - a trademark of this iconic hot hatchback."
I did this photo shoot in Sofia with a very clear task –
to prepare the car for sale in Germany.
That is, the photos had to show the car the way a collector or fan abroad would see it: in detail, honestly, without tricks and without “masking” the condition.
As a photographer specializing in automotive photography, my goal was simple:
shots that would stand out among hundreds of ads while still preserving the spirit of the model.
A little history – why the GTI G60 is special (especially outside)
The second generation Golf was released in the early 1980s and quickly became an icon.
The GTI versions added a sporty character, and the G60 was the pinnacle:
1.8-liter engine with G-Lader supercharger

more serious torque and acceleration
distinctive appearance and more aggressive stance

"A classic Volkswagen Golf 2 GTI G60, photographed at the end of the day in front of the modern glass buildings of Sofia. The soft evening light and the city reflections on the body emphasize the retro lines of the iconic hatchback and give the shot a strong mood."
in some instances – a digital dashboard, which for its time was space technology
In Western Europe, especially in Germany, such preserved examples are already collectors' items.
However, in our country they are often perceived as an "old Golf", without realizing how rare the GTI G60 configuration is. That is why high-quality filming of the car was key - to show that this is not an everyday car, but a youngtimer with potential.
Location and atmosphere – retro GTI in modern Sofia

"A dynamic shot from an evening photoshoot of a VW Golf 2 GTI G60 in Sofia. The retro treatment emphasizes the character of the classic hot hatch and is a perfect demonstration of how professional car photography can turn a city scene into a poster."
We did the photoshoot in the evening when:
the lights of business buildings paint reflections on the paint;
the sky still has color;
The headlights and yellow fogs add character and "vibrancy.".
The contrast between the retro GTI and the modern glass facades shows that the car stands calmly next to modern models. For the German buyer, this is an important signal - the car is maintained, driven in an urban environment and is far from the image of a "tortured project".
Details – the language that collectors understand
The digital scoreboard – 8-bit sci-fi

The retro digital dashboard of the VW Golf 2 GTI G60 with yellow-red scales and large speedometer numbers is photographed in close-up - a professional photo shoot and car photography by photographer Simeon Salov.
One of the strongest accents in the interior is the digital dashboard:
big yellow speed numbers
graphic tachometer
a whole row of indicators that light up like a slot machine

"A detailed shot of the interior of a Volkswagen Golf 2 GTI G60, showing the original radio, buttons and air ducts in the center console. This type of photo is a typical example of professional car photography, when we want to emphasize the authenticity and preserved condition of the interior."
In an ad for Germany, a shot like this immediately says a lot –
the buyer sees that the dashboard is available, working, and in good visual condition. These are the details that raise the price.
Rallye seats and original upholstery

A close-up of the original Rallye seat with blue checkered upholstery and red lettering in a VW Golf 2 G60 – a stylish retro detail from a professional photo shoot and car photography by photographer Simeon Salov.
The interior continues with Rallye seats embroidery RALLYE, checkered fabric with red lines, leather trim.
Here, automotive photography plays the role of a document: we show that the seats are original, without hidden covers and “surprises” – just as a demanding buyer from Germany expects.
Gear lever and center console

"A close-up of a tuning gear lever with a perforated metal ball and a black leather gaiter with red stitching in the interior of a Volkswagen Golf 2 GTI G60. This type of automotive photography shot is ideal when shooting a car for sale, when the individual extras and style of the owner need to be emphasized."
The metal gear lever with a perforated ball and a leather sleeve with red stitching is captured in a few closer shots:
shallow depth of field;
focus on the texture of leather and metal;
the background remains soft and unobtrusive.
This reinforces the feeling of mechanical authenticity – not tuning, but a well-preserved original.
Emblems, grille and rims

"A close-up of the rear brake light and the Golf GTI G60 badge, clearly highlighting that this is no ordinary Golf 2, but a true collector's hatchback."
Outside, the emphasis falls on:

"A creative detailed shot of the interior of a Volkswagen Golf 2 GTI G60, focusing on the MFA on-board computer lever, the ignition key and the original steering wheel. This kind of car photography highlights the authentic elements of the model and is ideal when shooting cars for sale or for a classic portfolio."
GTI G60 emblems front and rear;
the red edge of the grille;
the original rims with caps;

"A detailed shot of the car showing the classic original rim of a VW Golf 2 GTI G60 Rallye. This type of shot is important when professionally photographing cars for sale and for connoisseurs of the authentic OEM look."
the lines of the fenders and the stance of the car.
These are exactly the elements that are important for collectors - photographed cleanly, with good light and correct perspective, they save dozens of questions via email and chat.
Why this photoshoot was important for the sale in Germany
When you sell a retro GTI, youngtimer or classic abroad, you are competing with ads in which:
the cars have already been restored;
the photos are taken professionally;
every detail is documented.
With ordinary phone shots, a car like this from Bulgaria can easily get lost in a sea of ads.
That's why in this project, professional car photography was part of the sales strategy:
we show the real state – without makeup and without fakery;
we highlight the rare elements – digital dashboard, Rallye seats, GTI G60 configuration;
We create trust – the buyer sees that the owner has put care even into the way he presents the car.
The result is an ad that speaks the language of collectors, not just a "Golf for driving.".
